Executive Intent
By Dale Brown
China
and Russia are pursuing aggressive policies in Somolia and Yemin
that threaten the United States. The US president , who is in favor
of negotiating a treaty to abolish space based weapons, wants to
cancel the US space based weapon system. The vice president opposes
him.
Then
Pakistan launches a nuclear missile. The US weapon system terminates
the threat but the number of casualties has the media portraying
the US as the bad guy.
The
president is preparing for reelection and has to fight off the power
hungry vice president. The action is violent as a US aircraft carrier
fights against Chinese missiles and hunter-killer submarines. The
U.S. must restore American power and influence in the world.
This
technical thriller is well plotted and fast moving. Brown gives
a detailed description of the technology involved in space weapons
systems. The book involves many characters from Brown's previous
books.
The
focus of the book is on politicians, international relations and
tensions between the military services. It deals with personal and
political interaction in the senior leadership as it deals with
the political and military elite in the US.
