Faithful Place
By Tana French
Frank
Macey and Rosie Daly decided to leave Dublin and go to London to
seek a better life, but Rosie never meets Frank at their rendezvous.
Frank has no idea why she didn't go along with their plans even
though she left a note behind.
Twenty-two
years later, Frank is a detective with the Undercover Squadron.
He has a beautiful daughter and an ex-wife but he is still in love
with Rosie. He is estranged from his family. His only contact is
with his sister,Jackie.
Rosie's
suitcase is found when workmen are demolishing an abandoned building.
It would seem that she never left Faithful Place. Frank feels compelled
to conduct an independent investigation into the circumstances that
led to the hidden suitcase. His investigations lead him close to
his family with resulting conflicts.
"Faithful
Place" presents a realistic picture of the Dublin working class,
with a vivid sense of place. This is well written with a well developed
cast of characters. The author has captured the flow of the Irish
language. The plot is complex and compelling.
