False Conviction
A Casey Jordan Mystery, No 2

by Tim Green

The Freedom Project is a charity group dedicated to helping to exonerate wrongfully convicted prisoners. Its founder, millionaire Robert Graham, offers Casey Jordan a million dollars to take on two cases a year.

Her first assignment is the case of Dwayne Hubbard, who is serving a life sentence for the rape and murder of a student 17 years ago. Investigating the case Casey finds an incompetent court-appointed defense lawyer, prejudiced police and judge and no conclusive evidence. She hopes to prove his innocence by using DNA evidence not available 17 years ago.

But in the town of Auburn, New York she is confronted with the resistance of the police and the judge who handled the case, who has a personal reason to stop Casey. In her search for DNA samples to help her case she is confronted with deception and even assassination attempts. She finds all is not what it seems: that she can trust no one, not even those who supposedly are supportive Can she prove Dwayne's innocence? Or is he innocent? What is the motive behind trying to prove his innocence?

This is a suspense-filled story of deception, corruption and the devious methods a man will use to gain his ends. There are many twists and turns to confuse the reader. The characters are presented as human with flaws and weaknesses. The dialogue is crisp and clever. The atmosphere created is one to keep the reader on edge throughout.
