Freeze Frame
The Fourth of the Enzo Files
by Peter May
Enzo Macleod is facing his fourth cold case out of the seven written up by journalist
Roger Ruffin that he boasted he could solve. In this case, he attempts to figure out what
happened to an elderly man who appeared to die of cancer, but whose death is now suspect
because shortly afterward, his son also died. Allegedly, there was a secret code left for
the son to use in claiming his inheritance, because his father believed that someone was
out to murder him. Enzo searches for clues in the man’s office, which is still intact after
twenty years. Will Enzo be able to solve this mystery, or will he fail to win his bet about
solving the cold cases?
Enzo’s character continues to be developed more with each book in the series. In order
to get a clear understanding of Enzo it is important that readers read the books in order.
The setting of a small town on the Channel Islands suits this story of people still there,
who remember the events of twenty years ago and continue to accuse someone who still lives
there. The mystery is simple and well developed. Readers are asked to go along the path
that Enzo takes in order to solve the case. |
