Hush

by Kate White

Lake Warren is faced with the hardship of fighting her husband for full custody of their children, while dealing with the murder of a doctor at the Advanced Fertility Center where she is working as a consultant. Lake was with Dr. Keaton the night he was murdered. Will she become a suspect? Will the police believe her story? How can she face the police and tell the truth with the custody battle raging on?

Hush is a great stand-alone mystery. It is a fun read. There is plenty of suspense and readers are drawn into Lake Warren’s situation. Readers find themselves questioning whether they would make the same decisions that Lake made, knowing the consequences that result from every choice that is made. Lake’s character is believable and most readers would probably agree with the decisions she made. The characterizations of the minor characters are important and treated accordingly.

The big city and cottage hideaway settings are great assets to Hush. Each setting adds its own element to the mystery and suspense of the plot.
