Dominic Como, member of multiple boards of directors for nonprofit and charitable
organizations, has been found murdered, partially submerged in a lagoon. His beautiful,
young associate Alicia Thorpe is a person of interest and perhaps the prime suspect. Enter
Wyatt Hunt. Wyatt is the owner and tactful leader of The Hunt Club in San Francisco. The Hunt
Club is an elite private investigation service and of late his business has been in a definite
slump.
Wyatt’s young protégé and only employee at this time is Mickey Dade. Mickey and his sister
Tara have more or less been Wyatt's wards, and Mickey has decided to work some at The Hunt Club
to help pay for cooking school.
Mickey is friends with Alicia Thorpe’s brother and is quite infatuated with the beautiful
young woman. Mickey talks Wyatt into agreeing to take the case. Wyatt knows that the case will
garner a lot of publicity and that should be beneficial to his business as well. As the
investigation begins it is soon discovered that Dominic Como was drawing a hefty salary from
each of his boards and Alicia knows much more than she admits, hiding something that she is not
telling.
Treasure Hunt makes a wonderful follow-up to John Lescroart’s Hunt Club (also
reviewed on Myshelf), allowing his
characters to grow and introducing more new characters.
This was a suspenseful tale with elements of suspense, murder, a coming of age tale,
and—best of all—dirty politics
John Lescroart once again pens a winner.
