Faith Fairchild and her family get away to her father's cottage in Sampere Island, Maine for the Christmas season. Faith finds a young girl's body among the mannequins in the holiday display. She has received a Christmas Eve call from Mary Bethany, a reclusive goat farmer who discovered a newborn baby in her barn along with a note and a big bankroll. She is determined to keep the baby while Faith attempts to find the mother.

As with all of Page's books, this is a delightful, quick read. The characters are pleasant to know. It is a pleasure to follow Faith's family through the years. There is a dedication to librarians and libraries, which is well deserved.

There are the usual wonderful recipes at the end of the book.
