Jimmy Snyder, 23 year old congressional gofer, is found murdered. Paul Madriani's business card is found in his wallet. Madriani doesn't know the man, but a thumb print on the back of the card points to Muerta Liquida, a ruthless assassin. Madriani is on Liquida's death list, bound on revenge by implicating Madriani and liquidating Madriani, his daughter, and his colleagues. With the aid of his firm's investigator, Herman Diggs, Madriani uncovers a terrorist mastermind, known as Thorn, who is plotting to rig the next presidential election by killing one of the arms of the government, the Supreme Court.

This is a fast moving well written political thriller. The treatment of the political maneuvering is very informative. The importance of the Supreme Court in the foundation of the government with its "rule of nine" is stressed. This is a very stressful plot holding the reader's interest throughout.
