Library director Lindsey Norris has settled in quite nicely to her job and life in Briar Creek, Connecticut. Crafternoons every Thursday at the library fly by as Lindsey and her crafty friends work on their handiwork while they discuss books and enjoy snacks. Her love life is progressing nicely with the handsome Mike Sullivan aka Sully, and her visions for the library and her future look bright.

Carrie Rushton is in the running for the position of the president of the Friends of the Library and she's up against Bill Stint, a rather obnoxious individual. The vote is unanimous for Carrie and Bill is outraged. Carrie's husband is another man who could be deemed obnoxious. When Markus Rushton is shot, Carrie is named as suspect number one.

Before a thorough investigation can be done, a nor'easter descends upon Briar Creek, leaving the town at a standstill. Lindsey and the other crafternoon ladies are bound and determined to clear their dear friend's name.

I love everything about this book and the series. Jen McKinlay draws me into her stories every time. She has quite the knack for setting a serene scene in the library, lulling the reader into the cozy feel, and then shifting into the chaos of murder, with the force of a nor'easter adding to the turmoil.

Due or Die is the kind of mystery that if you are anything like me, you will want to savor. Yet on the other hand you are itching to have things play out and tie the storylines up neatly. The addition of a new dog, a puppy that was abandoned and soon named Heathcliff, brings even more warmth and coziness to the series.

Between the library setting, books, crafts, a small town feel, a puppy, and engaging characters this book reads like a charm. There is even a crochet scarf pattern and a couple of recipes at the bank. But wait! There's more! You also get a reader's guide to Wuthering Heights in honor of Heathcliff the puppy and a sneak peak at the next book in this series, Book, Line and Sinker.

Jenn also writes the Cupcake Bakery Mysteries the Decoupage Mysteries written as Lucy Lawrence, and the Good Buy Girls Mysteries written as Josie Belle.
