Grace Wheaton
has landed her dream job. She loves working at Marshfield Manor
as the curator and manager. Her job is never routine or dull, and
she relishes that. Unfortunately, murder has once again infiltrated
the hallowed halls of the manor, and Grace can't sit still and wait
for more violence to happen.
Julie Hyzy
does a fantastic job of spinning a believable yarn. I was hooked
before page five, and didn't want to put the book down even when
my eyes grew tired. The Manor House Mystery series has hit its stride
and I find that although I start out feeling like a visitor to the
manor, by the middle of the books I feel as though Grace and I are
old friends, and she is telling me the stories of mischief and mayhem
in a long letter.
With a rash
of thefts at the manor and a film crew documenting the workings
of the estate, Grace is kept on her toes to keep things running
smoothly. Bennett Marshfield, the owner of the manor, has personal
troubles as well, in the form of his step-daughter, Hillary. Hillary
is up to something, be it flirting with the film director or possibly
stealing items of value. Once again, Grace wants to be the one to
discover what is going on and set things straight.
Grace Among
Thieves is yet another stellar entry in a wonderful series.
It is a fine read as a stand-alone, but I do recommend that you
get the whole series so you can get to know the characters and watch
their development.
