Dr. Hank Lawson worked in the Emergency Room of a New York City hospital when he had to make a choice between two critical patients. He saved one, but the other wealthy patient died. As a result, Hank is fired, though he kept his license. After his brother, Evan, convinces Hank to visit the Hamptons, Hank saves a woman·s life and is hired by the wealthy Boris, owner of Shadow Pond, to be a concierge doctor to the rich and famous.

Now Hank runs HankMed, along with CFO Evan and Divya Katdare, Hank·s physician assistant. Hank has a new girlfriend, Jill Casey, administrator of Hamptons Heritage Hospital. The four of them plan to attend a ball, followed by Jill·s First Annual Hamptons Health and Fitness Fair, set for that weekend, meant to promote health & fitness, but also to raise money for the high school, hospital and Jill·s community clinic.

But not all is rosy in the Hamptons. Hank is called to investigate a teenager·s strange symptoms and realizes that drug sellers are in the area. He learns from Sergeant Willard McCutcheon that this isn't the first report of stoned teens who have been sold the "pink" deadly drug.

Royal Pains: Sick Rich was a light mystery, filled with a wonderful humor and a good, solid plot that kept me turning the pages. I could easily picture each character, and the repartee and friendship they share. I loved the interaction between Evan, the self-proclaimed ·superspy· and Divya·s retorts. Hank and Jill have a ·friendly· relationship that promises to grow along with Hank·s business. D.P. Lyle has provided information on the continually growing problem of illicit drugs and the innovative methods used by pushers to put those deadly drugs in the hands of our children. Highly recommended.
