Story Fischer
is a small town shop owner and a beekeeper extraordinaire.
She is also very loyal to her family and friends. So when
her sister, Holly, falls apart at the thought of dealing with
her husband’s business associates visiting, Story agrees
to help her. She not only assists with meal planning and preparation,
she agrees to have the staff come tour her property and beehives.
Some of the visitors are bee-yond disagreeable,
and Story regrets how the day has gone since she first took
off her beekeepers gear to listen to Holly’s problems.
When a member of the visiting staff turns up dead and Story
finds herself the person-of-interest in the case, she’s
about ready to throw in the towel.
Yet Story is plucky and smart, and vows to
gather evidence with the intensity she uses to gather honey
from the hives. She’s not going to the big house for
a crime she didn’t commit!
I’ve had the pleasure of reading this
series from the very beginning, and have to say that Hannah
Reed is one of my favorite authors. (She also writes as Deb
Baker.) I love how she shares knowledge about Wisconsin and
about beekeeping without being professorial. The books are
down-to-earth and peppered with realistic characters and unique
situations.
If you
are interested in a small town mystery with a cast of interesting
characters and a twisty turny mystery, you will love this
book. It’s a top-notch mystery with a lot of local buzz
about it.
