Reading
a new Faith Fairchild mystery is always cause for celebration.
Reading a new Faith Fairchild mystery set in Italy is
cause for me to do my happy dance.
Faith and her husband Tom are on an anniversary vacation.
They will do some sightseeing and then head off to Cucina
Della Rossi for a week of cooking school. Francesca
Rossi is an old friend and former employee of Faith’s
from when she did catering in New York City.
Upon arriving at the hotel, Tom wants to rest and Faith
wants to explore. She heads to the rooftop terrace and
meets a charming man named Freddy Ives. They are soon
joined by Tom and a dinner engagement is arranged. They
all have a wonderful time – the meal is fit for
a gourmand king. Freddy is leaving Rome the next day,
but Faith hopes to see him again. Be careful what you
wish for. The next evening coming back from another
wonderful meal, Faith and Tom witness a man being stabbed.
It turns out to be Freddy. He is taken to hospital and
pronounced dead.
Things to ponder: Why was Freddy still in Rome? Where
is his notebook? Who is Jack hiding from? Where do Constance
and Roderick go when they refuse to take the tour bus?
As I stated earlier, I love the Faith Fairchild mystery
series. This book is as fresh and exciting as the first
one in the series. Katherine Hall Page does not disappoint.
I read the book in one day as I really couldn’t
put it down. So what if the dog needed to be walked
- I needed to read. I loved reading Faith’s Travel
Journal and of course the fabulous recipes that are
always included. So if you like your mystery with an
Italian flavor, then this is one book you should read.
