Regan
Summerside manages to be at the wedding of the year - even
if she wasn't invited. Picture parasols, hoopskirts with crinolines
right out of Gone With The Wind. Now picture everyone close
to passing out because it is August in Savannah, GA. Magnolia
Plantation is the place to be and that includes Regan's auntie
Kiki. Waynetta Waverly is getting married to Simon Ambrose.
The problem is Simon left our favorite UPS driver, Chantilly
Parker, to marry wealthy Waynetta. Regan needs to find the
groom since Doreen-the-wedding-planner called her to bring
a bowtie over for him. The original bowtie is missing.
Regan
finds Simon in the room with the wedding cake. Actually -
he is in the wedding cake and the cake knife- well it is in
his back. The only thing that Waynetta is concerned with is
not returning all the wedding gifts. She feels Simon has ruined
the wedding. When Chantilly Parker is arrested for murdering
Simon, Regan feels she needs to help her friend.
Things
to ponder: Who put the bridesmaid dress in Chantilly's truck?
Why was Waynetta walking around in an unbuttoned wedding gown
right before the ceremony? Which leg of Bruce Willis actually
belongs to Walker Boone? Does Boone have a GPS on Regan -
how else can you explain why he is always turning up?
This
is such a fun read. There is a laugh out loud part with Regan
and Kiki doing their version of Lucy and Ethel while doing
Chantilly's UPS run. Killer In Crinolines is every
bit as good as the first book in the series Iced Chiffon.
Duffy Brown continues to treat her readers to wonderful characters
and great storylines. The book is well plotted and fast paced
and will keep you reading until you find out whodunit. I hope
Duffy is busy plotting away so I won't have to wait too long
for the next Consignment Shop Mystery. So if you are a bit
of a clothes horse, then Killer In Crinolines is
one book you should read.
