Glory Martine loves her Keyhole
Bay, Florida souvenir shop, Southern Treasures. She inherited
the shop from her great-uncle Louis, and along with the shop
came a parrot named Bluebeard. Louis’ spirit inhabits
Bluebeard’s body, although Glory is not keen on sharing
that information with most people.
When her friend Karen is distressed because her brother-in-law
is a suspect in the murder of a diver, Glory is eager to help.
She dives right into investigating the case, with help from
Bluebeard the parrot. As secrets are unearthed, Glory finds
she may be getting more involved and in danger then she had
bargained for.
As with the first book in this series, Murder Buys a T Shirt,
I’m captivated by Murder Hooks a Mermaid and the events
that unfold inside its pages. Christy Fifield has got it all
going on as a cozy mystery author. She writes in a comfortable
and friendly manner, that brings the reader right into the
story, and her characters quickly become like old friends.
While Murder Hooks a Mermaid is fine as a stand-alone
read, I recommend that you read “Murder Buys a T Shirt”
first, so you can follow the character development from the
beginning. Once you get lost in the pages of both books, you’ll
be hooked on the series.
