Mel Turner is a contractor who specializes in restoring and renovating historic homes. More often than one might expect, these properties are haunted, and Mel can communicate with the ghostly spirits. Mel’s new assignment is to restore a house that the new owners want to market as a Haunted Bed and Breakfast. That sounds like a plum job for Mel, doesn’t it?

Before Mel officially has the job, she has to spend one night in the house. Mel invites her friends Stephen and Claire to keep her company, not that she’s afraid of ghosts or anything. What she didn’t realize until the evening in question was that her rival for the contract, Josh Avery, would also be staying over on the same night. Things progress at a scary pace, but take a turn for the worse, when the previous owner--- who is staying on at the house for the rest of her life--- dies, and one more ghost is officially in residence. Will Mel be able to find the murderer before the murderer finds her?

Blackwell fine tunes her craft with a protagonist who embraces her unique abilities, paranormal mysteries that ring true, and twists and turns to keep the reader guessing.

Dead Bolt is the previous book in this series. Juliet Blackwell is also the author of the Witchcraft Mystery series. If you enjoy books by Heather Blake, Joyce and Jim Lavene, and Victoria Laurie you’ll love the Haunted Home Renovation books.
