Dr. Willow McQuade and her boyfriend Jackson Spade are invited to the Bixby Estate to a welcoming party for the cast and crew of Simon Lewis’ TV show starring psychic MJ. Simon is Willow’s ex and Jackson is not really happy to be going. For that matter neither is Willow. She does, however, want to see the lavender farm that is on the property. Willow is a naturopathic doctor and will be doing aromatherapy workshops in her shop – Nature’s Way Café.

While there, Simon gets into a fight with Roger Bixby. Roger recently cheated on his wife Carla who is a producer on the project. Now estranged from Roger, she also happened to be Simon’s current girlfriend. Willow and Jackson are happy to get away from the tense atmosphere of the party. Willow also senses something is off at the house.

Willow gets a text from Simon in the middle of the night. He needs her to go back to the Bixby Estate ASAP. Of course old friend Detective Koren would not let Willow or Jackson in. So they ended up getting out of his face and climbing over the fence. They find Simon talking to the cops. Roger Bixby is dead. Cause of death appears to be drowning –but nothing really will be known until after the autopsy. With Roger dead, Simon is now the primary shareholder in Galaxy TV. Willow will have to get involved, even though she is not really over the recent death of her aunt.

Things to Ponder: Why was MJ on the beach? What were Simon and Roger fighting about? What is causing Willow to think there is something wrong at the house?

While this is the first book I have read by Chrystle Fielder, it will not be my last. I have just purchased Death Drops for my Kindle. This was a fast read with plenty of twists and red herrings. I like how Willow used her background to solve the murder. I enjoyed learned about different plants and how they can be used to help you. So, if you like your mystery with an herbal flavor, then this is one book you should read.

Reviewer's Note: Death Drops is the first book in this delightful series
