Even the CIA has its mavericks and Jordan Sandor tops the list. Seeking revenge for the death of a close friend, Sandor launches a private and unauthorized mission into the jungles of Venezuela with the intent of assassinating a drug kingpin known as Adina.

Sandor uses a glider to sneak into the area in the middle of the night and is then able to penetrate Adina’s heavily guarded compound. Once inside he stumbles on something that he decides is far more important than his thirst for revenge and abandons his plan to take out Adina. Now he needs to escape and get the message back to the authorities.

Back in the United States he has to get past the consequences of his wildcat raid on Adina’s hideout before he can convince his superiors of the urgency of the situation that he uncovered. But he’s able to pick up a very influential supporter in the government who helps smooth the way for him.

Adina’s plan is to deliver his weapon of mass destruction into the United States using unwitting Russian drug smugglers who are very skilled at getting contraband around customs agents. Sandor picks up their trail and attempts to head them off. In the process he finds out just how ruthless and murderous the Russians can be. When more people close to Sandor are killed, his personal hit list begins to grow.
Before long Sandor finds himself working hand in hand with the Russian equivalent of the CIA. Jordan’s pursuit takes him on a trail halfway around the world to countries like Egypt and Israel.

This is the second Jordan Sandor adventure that I’ve read and like the first, the action begins on page one and continues through the final chapter. It’s not just shooting and blowing things up though, the author has obviously done plenty of research and provides enough details to keep the account sane and believable.
But make no mistake, this story moves like an M-16 in full auto.
