Wedding day for Maggie Gerber and Sam Collins is fast approaching, but Maggie can't seem to get her act together in order to get her dress, flowers, menu, etc. bought, ordered and planned. Does she have cold feet or is it something more?

Maggie and Sam together, though, have bought a house to live in. Yet it seems someone else already resides there-- a ghost! Even Sam's cat, Marshall Dillon, senses the ghostly presence. This is a series that is not usually paranormal at all, but the ghost adds elements of the trending paracozy genre, which I found interesting and smart.

After Maggie finds a skeleton in the root cellar of the new house, the ghost investigation becomes a murder investigation. The skeleton is of a World War II veteran, and Sam calls in a former co-worker, Andy, a forensic pathologist, to assist. Maggie is disconcerted when she learns that Andy is a gorgeous, young woman, and even worse, she is set on getting Sam to come back to work in Richmond far away from St. Stanley and Maggie. At least she is not romantically interested in Sam, but that's small consolation to Maggie, who worries that small town life won't be enough to keep Sam happy in the long run.

Between the wedding plans, which are quickly evolving into a crisis thanks to the interference of both Maggie's mother and Sam's mother, who can't agree on anything, the ghost in the new house, the murder investigation and keeping her shop, Maggie needs her best friends, the Good Buy Girls (named for their bargain hunting prowess) more than ever. Ginger, Joanne, Claire, and even Maggie's arch-nemesis Summer (who wants to become a member of the Good Buy Girls) are there to pitch in every step of the way. Will the killer be brought to justice? Will someone kill again? Will Maggie and Sam's wedding go off without a hitch?

I waited a whole year for this series finale, and am really pleased with the way Josie Belle ended the run. It was a satisfying conclusion in every respect, and while I'm sorry to know that the Good Buy Girls mystery adventures are over, I know that I can go back and visit anytime I want by re-reading the five books. Well done, Josie Belle, well done!
