Minnie
Hamilton, librarian for Chilson, Michigan, is also the bookmobile
lady. She goes with her cat Eddie and a volunteer to those
that can’t get to the library. Right now, Minnie is
wondering how she will get along with her new volunteer Denise
Slade. While she is very enthusiastic, she might not be able
to make every bookmobile run. With the bookmobile funding
drying up, Minnie needs to come up with funds to keep these
books moving. On a snowy Saturday morning, Denise sends her
husband Roger in her place. He turns out to be a great fit.
Even Eddie approves. While Roger goes to get something to
eat at the rest stop, Minnie hears gun shots. She doesn’t
think much about it since it is the start of deer rifle season.
When Roger doesn’t return she goes looking for him and
finds him dead outside the gas station. He had been shot.
Minnie had better be careful solving this death. She could
end up being permanently pulled out of circulation.
Things to ponder:
Does Stephen know about Eddie? Was Roger’s death an
accident or murder? Was Roger the real target? What’s
up with Otto Bingham?
Another
fun read in the Bookmobile Cat Mystery series. It is well-plotted
and it soon became a page turner of a read for me. Cozy mystery
lovers will love finding out whodunit. Look for the next in
this delightful series – Pouncing On Murder in
December 2015. So, if you like your mystery filled with lots
of books, then you should be reading Borrowed Crime.
