Erin
Murphy was gearing up for the 35th Annual Jewel Bay Summer
Food and Art Fair. It was another way to bring food loving
tourists to the Merc and other shops in Jewel Bay, MT. The
Grill-Off would be filmed and shown on the television show,
“Food Preneurs,” and hosted by Gib Knox, a famous
television chef. The committee members had gathered and were
facing a huge problem. Two of the recipes submitted for the
Grill-Off were almost identical. Erin suggests the two chefs
in question submit new recipes. Erin now has the task of telling
the chefs of the change in plans. As if she had nothing else
to take care of that day.
Finally,
the long day is over and Erin is finished and about the leave
the Merc. She spies a copy of a book her mother, Fresca, had
given to Stacia - she is part of the crew for “Food
Preneurs.” Erin decides to drop it off on her way home.
Driving, Erin spots a black trash bag on the road. Only it
is not a trash bag, it is the crumpled body of Stacia. It
was definitely a hit and run. Was it an accident or done on
purpose? The filming will go on, and now Erin will assist
during the rest of the shoot. Erin had better be very careful
solving this death; she could very well end up on the cutting
room floor.
Things
to ponder: Did Drew and Gib really get along when they worked
together in the past? What was Gib doing out? Was Stacia meeting
someone?
It is
always a treat to get to visit with the people of Jewel Bay,
MT. The author has made the story so inviting that you feel
you have been there before. The protagonist, Erin, is always
up for the challenges thrust before her. I found it very hard
to put this book down. I just had to know whodunit. The story
is well-plotted and the author had included enough suspects
to keep a cozy reader satisfied. The author has very kindly
included some very delicious recipes. I can’t wait to
pay my next visit to Jewel Bay and see what Erin and the gang
are planning. So, if you like a mystery filled with good eating,
then you should be reading Crime Ribs.
