Paris, Tennessee is home to Emma Taylor, who left her life in New York after her heart was broken by a cheating boyfriend. Emma works with her beloved aunt Arabella at Arabella’s lingerie shop, Sweet Nothings. When a Valentine’s Day event at the shop, designed for men only to shop for gifts for their girlfriends and wives, draws an old flame of Arabella’s to Sweet Nothings, trouble ensues.

Hugh Granger is a wealthy art dealer, and he makes it a point to invite Arabella and Emma to a lavish dinner dance he is hosting at the Beauchamp Hotel and Spa. The purpose is to celebrate his birthday and his return to Paris. Arabella does not want to go as she still harbors bad feelings about how their relationship ended, but she gives in and they attend along with Arabella’s gentleman friend Francis, and Emma’s boyfriend, Brian.

Hugh is shot and killed during the party, and it seems that Arabella is a prime suspect. When Emma’s mother, Priscilla, comes to visit she is determined that she and Emma will work to clear Arabella’s good name and unmask the real killer.

A Fatal Slip is a fast and fun read. The story moves along at a good clip and I was surprised to discover I’d read the first one hundred pages in one sitting. The Sweet Nothings Lingerie series is engaging, featuring well-rounded characters, adorable dogs, romance, mystery, humor, and shopping! Curl up on your sofa wearing your prettiest peignoir set, trade in those fuzzy slippers for sexy heeled slippers, pour a glass of wine or a cup of tea, and enjoy getting to know more about Emma, Arabella, and Paris, Tennessee.

Previous books in the series are Murder Unmentionable and Laced with Poison.
