Gone
is the follow up to I, Michael Bennett.
In the
last book Bennett arrested Drug lord Manuel Perrine wheo then
escaped and threated Bennett's family. The Bennett family
is in the Witness protection program. They’re living
on a farm in California. Bennett’s nanny has adapted,
but the kids hate it. And his grandfather misses their traditional
Mass services. What they wouldn’t give to be back in
New York.
Gone
opens with a blast of violence, people die and evil breaks
loose. The scenes are gruesome. Gone has Perrine
showing powerful competing criminals he’s better at
assassinating than they are…. It gets to a point when
the killing is out of control and everyone is in danger…
In the
last book, Perrine murdered Bennett’s friend and threatened
to Bennett and his family. Bennett remembers and so does his
family. When the FBI arrives and requests Bennett's help in
capturing Perrine, his family tells him to do it. They all
know the possible cost, but they also have faith in him. What
they don't know is how close Perrine going to get...
Patterson
and Ledwidge sure can deliver a massacre or two. I cringed
at the killing scenes. Narrators' Danny Mastrogiorgio and
Henry Leyva bring Bennett's determination and Perrin’s
violence to life. Mercy, what a listen…
Gone
is a merciless, mind-blowing ride that will have you watching
with your eyes half closed…
