Skye Denison and Wally Boyd are finally on their honeymoon. Skye really doesn't expect to see anyone she knows aboard this cruise ship. So why does she think she saw her mother, May, boarding? The newlyweds spend time alone – but the thought of her mom on her honeymoon cruise is really bothering Skye. Things go from bad to worse when she figures out that May has managed to get them on the same cruise she is on with her knitting group for the U-Knitted Nations tour. A blowup between May and the Knitting tour director Guinevere Stallings has Skye babysitting her mother. After a morning playing bingo, Skye goes looking for her mother. The knitting group has dispersed and the room is empty. Or is it? A thud and a crash brings Skye to find Guinevere on the ground with knitting needles in her throat. Skye knows better than to removes the needles. She tries to stop the blood loss. Unfortunately, we have one dead knitter. If Skye doesn't find the real killer, she could end up as a prime suspect.

Things to ponder: What happened to Pearl - the original tour leader? Why does Guinevere need to be on this cruise? What did May and Guinevere argue about?

This seventeenth in the Scumble River mystery series is fresh and as readable as the first in this wonderful series. I was wary when I started reading this book. A Scumble River Mystery should take place in Scumble River. This one takes place on Skye and Wally's honeymoon aboard the Diamond Countess Cruise ship. Denise Swanson is a genius. She has figured out a way to have several key people from Scumble River aboard the ship with Skye and Wally. It made for a fun romp on the high seas. The story is well-plotted and I did not put it down until I had finished it. The pages were almost turning themselves. I had to find out whodunit. Denise Swanson has delivered a delightful treat for cozy mystery readers. I can't wait to read the next one – Denise please write fast. So, if you like your mystery with an ocean view, then you should be reading Murder of a Needled Knitter.
