Prologue:
There’s money to be made.
NYPD
Red is a special task force that handles high-profile cases
that involve the wealthy and the most powerful in New York.
Detectives Zach Jordan and Kylie MacDonald are the primary
detectives. The partners have a romantic history, but its
Zach’s current girlfriend, Cheryl, (NYPD phycologist)
he is celebrating New Years with, and it’s in one of
the most luxurious hotels in New York. It’s short lived
when Cheryl’s ex-husband has an emergency, and Kylie
calls Zach about the Alden case.
Businessman
Hunter Alden Jr. is at his father’s New Year’s
Day party; a yearly event for the rich and powerful. Alden
is too upset at his teen son, Trip, to enjoy the smell of
money or the expensive liquor flowing nonstop. Alden expected
Trip’s chauffer/body guard, Peter, to know better and
deliver Trip on time. When Alden arrives home and opens the
garage door, he expects to see his son and his newest commission,
a personalized, 1.1 million dollar German car. What he finds
is Trip’s Camera case with a head, a phone, and a note.
The Alden
case is one of the most difficult for NYPD Red. They have
a head, a note, two missing teens and a father who refuses
to aid in the search. Money and power is controlling NYPD
Red’s every move. Their boss steps forward with a reminder
that the wealthy’s tax bracket provides more police
for the city than any other. When things heat up and the unforgivable
side of the rich and powerful is revealed, we see a battle
of wills in the department – a temptation to cover up
and a personal need to expose everything.
NYPD
RED 3 has plenty of twists and turns, but it’s
the freezing cold, slick roads, fast cars and flying bullets
that will keep the pages turning. The last half of the storyline
is a real thriller.
Edoardo
Ballerini and Jay Snyder once again narrate the NYPD Red team
– it’s intense entertainment at its best. In typical
Patterson style, the violence and language is over the top,
so remember your headphones. The unbridged audio version also
gives listeners an excerpt of Patterson’s next title,
Miracle at Augusta.
