It is Halloween time in Crystal Cove, California and that means the Winsome Witches are out in full force. Not to worry, these ladies are not real witches and are only interested in raising money to benefit their literacy charity. There are quite a few events planned including a luncheon, a haunted ghost tour and a faire. Jenna Hart is looking forward to participating in as many of the events as possible. It will be fun and good advertising for her shop – The Cookbook Nook.

The haunted tour ends at the home of High Priestess Dr. Pearl Thornton. The evening is marred by an argument between Pearl and her daughter Trisha. The next morning, Jenna gets a call from her Aunt Vera. She tells her to hurry over to Pearl's house. Upon arriving, Jenna finds that Pearl has died during the night. Is it a complication to her newly diagnosed Diabetes? It looks like Jenna will be investigating this death. She had better be careful or she could end up under a witch's spell.

Things to ponder: Who sent Jenna the flowers? Where is the Kashmir Sapphire? Why were Emma and Pearl crying? Why was Aunt Vera at Pearl's house so early in the morning?

I always enjoy visiting with Jenna and her friends and family. There is always something going on in Crystal Cove. Cozy mystery readers will enjoy this third serving of the Cookbook Nook mystery series. It is very well-plotted and it quickly became a page-turner of a read for me. I just had to know whodunit. The author has thoughtfully provided some yummy recipes including one for French Silk Fudge Cake. For those of you who can't wait until 2015 for the next in this delightful series, Daryl writes The Cheese Shop Mysteries as Avery Ames. So, if you like your mystery filled with black cats, goblins and a ghost or two, then you should be reading Stirring The Plot.
