Cape Willington, ME was looking
forward to holding the first annual Strawberry Fair. Really
they just wanted to eat the luscious berries produced by Crawford
Berry Farm. Henry “Doc” Holiday was going to see
Miles Crawford to pick his brain for ideas to expand his crops.
Doc and his daughter Candy run Blueberry Acres Farm. When
Doc arrives, he could not find Miles. , So he started searching
the hoop houses. After checking one hoop house, he comes out
and calls 911. Miles Crawford will not be attending the Strawberry
Fair. Someone has murdered him.
Candy Holliday, now interim editor of the Cape Crier goes
to the Crawford Berry Farm to get the story. What she finds
is that Chief Durr thinks her dad is a person of interest.
The murder weapon is a shovel. They have found one with BA
on the handle; BA for Blueberry Acres. Candy had better be
very careful solving this murder. She could end up being short-caked.
Things to ponder: Who was seen leaving the scene of the crime?
Who wanted to buy the Crawford Berry Farm? Who put up the
no berry picking sign? Who almost ran Candy off the road?
Another great read from B.B. Haywood. Love the characters
and how they interact. The pieces of the puzzle come together
in the end like a well baked pie. The plotting is well paced
and there are enough red herrings to make you hungry. The
author has included some tasty recipes for you to try. So
if you like your mystery filled with a small town feel, then
you should be reading Town in a Strawberry Swirl.
