Janet
Evanovich is back, teamed up with new author, Phoef Sutton,
to bring readers a new series, Knight and Moon, centered around
eccentric millionaire Emerson Knight and Harvard grad turned
junior analyst, Riley Moon. When Riley lands her dream job
at Blane-Grunwald as a Junior Analyst, she never dreamed that
her first assignment would be to placate millionaire introvert,
Emerson Knight. When the babysitting assignment gets turned
upside down and an inquiry about missing gold in the Knight
account leads to a missing man, more missing gold, and a life-and-death
race across the country, Riley begins to wonder where she
went wrong. Can Emerson and Riley team up to find the missing
man and Emerson's gold before they themselves get terminated?
I immediately
was sucked into this story by the zany characters and the
dialogue between Emerson and Riley, as only Riley can get
away with saying in all seriousness, "Crap on a Cracker!"
While the storyline is a bit convoluted, if you simply want
a story to enjoy, this is the book for you. In addition to
two strong lead characters that have constant funny interactions,
this story also contains an entire host of eccentric supporting
characters from Knight's housekeeper to Moon's brother, all
making for a richer, more entertaining read. I look forward
to the character relationship development in book two between
Emerson and Riley, as they have great chemistry. Overall,
I think this is a good start to a new series full of action
and intrigue, and I am optimistic that it will continue to
evolve and grow into a great series. |
