Bailey Ruth Raeburn is
a ghost on a mission. A mission to help guide the spirit of
Jimmy Taylor to Heaven. She has been sent as an emissary by
Wiggins, from Heaven’s Department of Good Intentions
to persuade Jimmy to climb the golden staircase, but the young
man isn’t ready to go. He doesn’t want to leave
his beloved, Megan Wynn, because she is a suspect in the murder
of one of her co-workers, a nasty lawyer named Doug Graham.
Having
helped the local Adelaide, OK police solve murders before
makes it easier for Bailey Ruth to get involved. There’s
a detective with whom she can communicate, and it even helps
that Megan is aware of both Jimmy’s presence and Bailey
Ruth’s.
While
the waters are a little murky because of an expensive ring
which was stolen from the victim’s desk, and the murder
weapon turning up in Megan’s desk, Bailey is able to
use her other worldly abilities to appear and question witnesses
and other suspects to help to clear Megan’s name, and
help Jimmy to move on to Heaven.
I’ve
always enjoyed this series because it is written well with
solid mysteries. What I think I like most, however, is the
comforting idea that there are indeed spirits who live on
and are able to return to Earth to help others in need.
If you’re
looking for a cozy mystery with a paranormal flair, you can’t
go wrong with Ghost Times Two.
