Grilled for
Murder by Maddie Day is the second
book in the Country Store Mystery series. Robbie Jordan, the
owner of the quaint Pans N Pancakes country store and restaurant,
in South Lick Indiana, is back! In this story Robbie finds
herself smack dab in the middle of another murder investigation
when she stumbles across the body of Erica Shermer, a recently
returned town local, the morning after she hosts Erica's Welcome
Home party at Pans N Pancakes. To make matters worse, she
finds the body in the front of her store murdered with what
might be her missing cookware.
As with the first book in the series, Flipped
for Murder, we are served another compelling mystery
mixed with intriguing subplots and complex lovable characters.
Well, all the characters with the exception of the murder
victim, who wasn’t liked by many people, making for
a plethora of suspects sprinkled throughout the story. And
I must say, I had inklings of who I thought the murderer was,
but I didn't peg the "whodunit" of this story.
I think my favorite part of this series, and
the most enduring to me, is that I can see myself walking
into Pans N Pancakes, sitting down and being served a heaping
plate of biscuits and gravy from Robbie herself. And on the
way out of the store I might just purchase a trinket or two
for my own personal kitchen! Don't forget to check the back
of the book for some delicious recipes to try in your own
kitchen. Overall, Grilled for Murder is another scrumptious
morsel of a book and I can't wait to get my hands on the next
in this series!
