Murder at the Mansion,
by Janet Finsilver, is the second book in the Kelly Jackson
Mystery series set in the beautifully written Redwood Cove.
Kelly Jackson is back, but this time she is coming as the
new manager of The Redwood Cover B&B. However, as the
renovations at the B&B aren't complete, she finds herself
working at Redwood Heights, a posh Victorian-style estate.
In this story, Kelly finds herself inventorying the many antiques
at Redwood Heights due to a recent string of thefts -- that
is, until she finds Sylvia Porter in her room, murdered with
an antique hat pin that mysteriously goes missing before the
police arrive.
When I read the first book in the series, Murder at Redwood
Cove, I stumbled through the first half and then was
hooked for the ride of the second half. That didn't happen
with this book. I am happy to say that I was hooked right
from the start, and from there I had to hang on for the ride.
The characters in this book literally leap off the page, they
are so wonderfully written. And can I just say, I love the
Silver Sentinels! Can I have a group of them to call my own
please? The entire cast is adorable in their own ways and
they are all simply lovable.
Overall, Murder at the Mansion is a wonderful addition
to this series, and the books keep getting better and better.
How long do I have to wait for the next book? Hopefully it
won't be a long wait until I can venture back to Redwood Cove!
