Grace Wilde is in New
Orleans to investigate a missing person. The woman's sister
has hired her because Grace is an animal communicator who
is able to get into animal's minds telepathically. The theory
is that the woman's cat, Coco, knows what happened to her
and should be able to tell Grace.
Things
turn out to be a lot more complicated than that. Anya, Grace's
client, is obviously evil and lying. She may not even be Ronnie's
(the missing woman) sister! Working with Anya is a man claiming
to be Ronnie's psychiatrist, but he's shifty and carries a
gun.
Before
too long, Grace's posse from home arrives, although they think
they are coming to celebrate Grace's sister Emma's birthday
in The Big Easy...where nothing is easy at all for the group.
Except, that is, the B&B where they end up. Belinda, the
drag queen who owns and operates the place, is also a psychic
and treats them and all Grace's pets (who have come along)
like family. Together, as a unit, this team hopes to find
out what exactly happened to Ronnie, where she could be, and
if Grace's “acquaintance” Logan is involved in
a good way or a bad way! Oh! I nearly forgot-- there's a Mystery
Monkey on the loose and Grace is trying to find and help him
too!! His name is Cornelius and he also may know what happened
to Ronnie. If only Grace can get him to talk!
This
is the first book in this series that I've had the opportunity
to read. Now I can't wait to read the first three! I found
the story to be one that is so unique and so well written
and such a pleasure that I simply couldn't put it down for
long. Laura Morrigan has a wonderful way with words and I
loved how the animals communicated with Grace in such sweet
and simple fashions. Much as I assume my own cat tries to
telepathically tell me things with simple, easy words.
For the
two Pomeranians, the Wolf dog, the two cats and the monkey--
I give this book a resounding 24 Paws Up! To the author, Laura
Morrigan, please, I beg you, keep writing this wonderful series
for years and years to come! The possibilities are endless!
For potential
readers-- what are you waiting for? Get a copy of Take
and Monkey and Run today. Maybe we'll meet up at a bookstore
where I'm getting copies of the previous three in the series!!
