Abundance, Georgia hosts the annual Farm Family Fare and Eva Knox of Knox Plantation is right in the thick of things. It is a jam-packed weekend, with events including tours, exhibitions, music, tastings and more. There are celebrity chefs appearing with cooking demonstrations. The Chow Network is on hand as the celebrity chefs are from their station.

Then, Master Chef Slick Simmer is murdered, his body found by Eva and Precious Darling in a refrigerated truck. Since this isn’t Eva’s first go around with murder, the phrase “magnet for disaster” with which Sheriff Buck Tanner has described her sure seems to fit. Eva’s sister Daphne is in the hot-seat as a suspect when it is learned that she spent the night before with Slick, leading Eva, Precious, and Eva and Daphne’s other sister, Pip to dig for clues. They are pressed for time as Daphne’s arrest seems in the offing, and there is still a killer on the loose!

Bursting with humor and Southern charm, this is a mystery you can’t help but love. The mystery itself is well crafted and I didn’t even come close to solving the crime! Kelly Lane has a wonderfully detailed literary imagination and doesn’t miss a beat when it comes to infusing her characters with perfectly flawed human traits. Highly recommended!
