Miranda Cooper, her husband, Aaron, and daughter, Sierra, are traveling through No Man’s Land between Utah and Arizona. They are on a short vacation to meet Aaron’s new friend. Miranda notices an aggressive motorist getting close. The rogue driver’s attempt to push them out of the way turns into a pit maneuver. He sends their SUV over a cliff and into a ravine. Aaron is injured and Sierra is frightened. Miranda gets them to a small cave and heads out to find help. Once she climbs a hill and yells for help she becomes a target. Aaron’s words echo in her heard "Be careful who you trust." Various scenarios concerning her husband and why someone would want them dead play in her head as she runs for her life. It’s a showdown between the two and someone is going to die.

The storyline follows Miranda and her struggle for survival. She faces more than one killer and she doesn’t know why. At the same time, she’s concerned about her family. Did the killers find them? Scenes are tense and the mystery -- why they want her dead -- keeps the story moving. Shan Serafin, also co-authored The Women’s War with Patterson. Serafin also wrong a young adult book titled Seventeen.

Seasoned Narrator January LaVoy (Invisible, 16th Seduction) reads Come and Get Us. Her narration accelerates the action until the very end.
