Welcome
back to Shadow Bend, Missouri where we find owner of Devereaux’s
Dime Store and Gift Baskets, Devereaux Sinclair, working on
her storefront window displays when a ghastly rude man enters
her store and demands to speak to Jake Del Vecchio. What the
man doesn't know is that Jake is Devereaux’s boyfriend
and he has recently rented a room above her shop to open his
private investigation business, where he also welcomes Devereaux’s
help. The situation goes from bad to worse when Elliot Winston
explains he is looking for his missing wife, Gabriella, and
that the local police think that he may have killed her. Throw
in a menagerie of lions and tigers and other animals at a soon-to-be
local wildlife sanctuary and you have a wild ride to figure
out exactly what has become of Mrs. Winston.
I
am always excited to venture back to Shadow Bend, Missouri,
where I always leave behind some great friends. I have really
loved this series from the start, especially because Devereaux
is a strong female lead who knows her own mind and worth and
doesn't mind shaking things up if she deems it important.
I love that she is thinking of getting her own private investigator
license! The story was well plotted with quite a few unexpected
twists and turns. Mystery aside, we finally get the answer
to the love triangle we have been following for the last few
books. I must say, I was very happy with the outcome and happy
to see some sweet romance winding it's way through the story.
We are left with a bit of a cliffhanger and once again I am
left waiting for the next in the series to be released!
