Wagtail,
Virginia in the Christmas season is a delight for animal lovers
and their pets. Holly Miller and her grandmother, Oma, own
The Sugar Maple Inn and it is chock full of guests for the
holidays and a special gathering for the upcoming wedding
of Holmes Richardson and Norma Jean Blume.
Sadly, Holly is still in love with ex-boyfriend
Holmes, but she has to put on a brave face for the gathering.
Holmes finance is obnoxious, and most of her extended family
are difficult as well. When the patriarch, Dale Thackleberry
is murdered and Holly's Aunt Birdie Dupuy is the chief suspect,
Holly sets out to find who the real killer is. There are enough
motives to include all of Dale's family as suspects, and there
is a businessman in town who wants to buy the Thackleberry
pet clothing business who may have his own reason for committing
murder.
The Christmas events, including a German-themed
Christkindl Market, set the tone with enough holiday spirit
to make me ready to start to decorate and shop! With the perfect
mix of interesting human and animal personalities, a couple
of love triangles, and a pool of generational and familial
issues, the main story and subplots are sure to keep your
interest throughout the whole book.
I always look forward to new books by Krista
Davis. Then, I proceed to devour them in a day or two and
am left longing for the next one! This is such an appealing
mystery that I think just about everyone would enjoy it.
Order your copy today, and prepare to curl
up with a cup of tea or hot chocolate, a warm blanket, a dog
or a cat for company, and then enjoy an excellent seasonal
mystery sure to satisfy your holiday reading needs. Oh- there
are some excellent recipes at the back of the book, so you
might want to look those over before you settle in and make
sure you have the necessary ingredients to make one or two!
Enjoy!
