Nola Mae is back and full of southern charm in the third installment
of the Georgia Peach mystery series. In this enchanting story,
she finds herself smack dab in another jam when mayoral candidate,
Clem Rodgers, is found murdered inside his burning barn, and
the sheriff sets her sights on sticking it to Nola's dad.
This
is my first introduction to the Georgia Peach series, and
while I have had the first two on my to-read list since they
were released, I am seriously beating myself up for not jumping
into these sooner. I absolutely loved this book The theme
of love and family strength drew me in and made me adore not
only the characters, but also Susan Furlong for writing such
a strong and enduring series. Nola Mae is an amazing lead
character who has such beautiful inner strength and love of
her family, you can feel it radiate off the pages. The rest
of the characters are not to be slighted, as they have been
crafted to spring to life and feel like a group of people
that I would surround myself with in my own life. I loved
that this mystery had me guessing right till the end, and
even when I did figure out the "who-dun-it," I was
vested in the story and couldn't wait to see how it would
end. Overall, I loved this book and I can't wait to return
to Cays Mill, Georgia, for some southern peachy goodness!
Oh, and if you are a peach nut like myself, don't miss the
recipes in the back of the book! They will make you fall in
love!
