Burning
Ridge is
the fourth installment of the Timber Creek K-9 Mystery series.
It continues the story of Office Mattie Cobb and her K-9 partner,
Robo. This time, Mattie is faced with solving a mystery of
a charred body on a mountainside that hits way too close to
home. Luckily she has the support of the local veterinarian
and love interest, Cole Walker, and the support of her co-workers.
Unfortunately, since this case hits so close to home, Mattie’s
life is at stake. Will she be able to survive to solve another
mystery with Robo?
This
reader has not read the prior books in the series but was
immediately swept in by the end of the first chapter. The
characterization of Mattie Cobb is solid and this reader did
not feel that much was missed by not reading the previous
three books. The partnership between Mattie and her K-9 demonstrated
true loyalty and was well documented throughout the book.
The plot has enough twists and suspects without it being overwhelming
and complicated, but is not predictable. The fact that Mattie
is a cop is important for the plot and handled very well.
Any fans of dogs, police procedural mysteries, and/or series
mysteries should pick up a copy of Burning Ridge.
This reader would recommend picking up the other books in
the series, but you can get enough characterization from just
Burning Ridge.
