Lana Lewis was a married journalist in Miami until suddenly she wasn’t. Now divorced and running her family coffee shop, Perkatory, on the Gulf Coast, Lana’s faced with a new set of challenges. The café is competing in the Sunshine State Barista Championship when her best employee up and quits with no notice, leaving the chances of winning the contest in his dust.

When her former employee, Fab Bellucci is found dead in the alley behind the café, Lana finds herself in the position of the prime suspect. Using her investigative skills, Lana sets out to clear her name and find the real murderer. Luckily, she won’t have to hunt for the killer alone as her hippie-dad, new barista, and others pitch in to help.

I enjoyed this first in a new series mystery so much! Tara Lush has created a main character who is smart, clever, and determined. The supporting characters are funny and unique and the mystery is well-plotted and engaging. There is a lot of humor interspersed with the murder mystery and that made the whole book even more enjoyable. It was a fast read for me because I couldn’t put it down for long.

I recommend you get in on the “ground floor” of this series (pun intended) by reading Grounds for Murder. You won’t be sorry. I am already anxiously awaiting the next book!
