Hanging Falls continues with the story of Office Mattie Cobb and her K-9 partner, Robo. This time, they find a body that is floating near the edge of a lake. Upon investigating and with the help of veterinarian Cole Walker, they discover that the victim is a member of a religious cult that has recently moved to Timber Creek. They also find someone who might have seen the murder. Can Mattie, Robo and the rest of the Timber Creek police force find the murderers before another victim is killed?

This reader continues to enjoy the Timber Creek K-9 mystery series. The characterization of Mattie continues to evolve into a more rounded person and is shown more when faced with Mattie’s long lost sister and grandmother. Mattie isn’t as tough as she first appeared--emotions are finally being allowed to show themselves. The descriptions of Cole and his daughters show how sensitive a change in a family dynamic can affect the family as a whole. The mystery plot is simple but complex enough to have several possible suspects.

Overall, Hanging Falls is another thoroughly enjoyable read and this reader cannot wait for the next installment. If you have enjoyed the previous Timber Creek K-9 mysteries, then you should enjoy this one. This reader highly recommends starting off with book one of the series, Killing Trail
