Lee Barrett lives in Salem, Massachusetts, where she works as a reporter and sidelines as an amateur sleuth. When Professor Samuel Bond is murdered and Assistant Professor Cody McGinnis becomes the suspected killer, Lee agrees to help dig for the truth.

With help from her Aunt Ibby, her clairvoyant cat, O’Ryan, and her boyfriend, Detective Pete Mondello, Lee races to find a killer before anyone else becomes a victim.

I live fairly close to Salem, so this series has long been of special interest to me. Carol Perry does a very good job of setting the stage for how Salem looks and feels. The characters are all interesting, and it’s been fun over the course of 10 books now to read about how their relationships grow and change.

This murder is a copycat killing of a crime committed nearly two hundred years ago, and that gives it an unusual twist. The idea of a similar murder in the past is intriguing, and setting that in Salem makes for a great read.

Overall, the newest Witch City Mystery, Murder Take Two is an enjoyable cozy read with a realistic feel for Salem, Massachusetts. You don’t have to be a psychic to foresee what a great read this would be for Halloween Season, and that it would be a perfect selection for a book club. Highly recommended as a stand-alone read but I think you’ll want to read the previous nine books as well!
