Cajun
Cowboy
By Sandra Hill
I have
read several Sandra Hill books, and this one did not disappoint
me at all. Sandra Hill has the most delightful sense of humor!
Cajun
Cowboy is set on the bayou in Louisiana, and her “cowboy,”
Raoul Lanier, has just been released from prison. He is hell-bent
on proving that he was framed, and his one desire in life is to
get his veterinarian license back again. That—and to capture
the heart of his ex-wife, Charmaine LeDeux—who has just declared
herself “a born-again virgin.”
Charmaine is the owner of a chain of beauty salons. But, she is
in hock up to her painted face to loan sharks. When Raoul sashays
back into her life, he is the last thing she wants. Or is it?
They
are both shocked when they discover that Raoul’s father, who
has recently died, has left his ranch to Raoul—and Charmaine—50%
to each of them. The lawyer, when he delivers the deed to the property,
also brings the divorce papers, which were never signed or filed.
Charmaine
takes it all seriously and she heads for the ranch. Soon, amidst
good food and the cute little body Charmaine flaunts in front of
the ranch hands, they are all in cahoots to figure out how to keep
her there, and to get Raoul to “ride her till she’s
bull-legged.”
The secondary character, Charmaine’s aunt, Tante Lulu, add
a delicious touch to the story.
If you
want a good laugh, with just a hint of a mystery thrown in for good
measure, and some of the most innovative ways to keep romance alive
in a marriage, this is the best place around to find all of the
above.
Very highly recommended.
