Awaken Me Darkly

by Gena Showalter

Aliens walk among us. Some are good. Some are not. Someone must protect us from the evil ones. That person is Mia Snow, alien hunter.

Mia and her partner, Dallas, are called to the scene of a homicide. The victim, William Steele, was the first of five men to disappear under mysterious circumstances. Lilla, an alien, is the prime suspect. Mia and Dallas arrest her. Dallas is severely wounded during her capture.

Kyrin, Lilla's brother, appears at the hospital. He insists that Lilla is innocent and that he knows who the killer is. If Mia will release his sister, he will save Dallas's life and help her to apprehend the real killer.

Mia has four days to decide. If anyone tries to track Kyrin down he will disappear and Dallas will die. Mia attempts to take him by force but is unable to match his alien speed and strength.

Mia is torn. Aliens killed both of Mia's brothers. As passionately as she hates aliens, there is something about Kyrin that draws her. Will she let the prime murder suspect go free or will she let her partner die?

This book starts out with a bang and keeps rolling until the very last page. The characters are very well written, the plot is extremely interesting, and the sex is incredibly hot. This stand-alone book appears to be the beginning of a new series. I can't wait to read the rest of them. This is a fantastic book!
