Lady Anne's Dangerous Man
by Jeane Westin
Lady Anne Gascoigne decided to remain a virgin until her wedding night to Edward Ashley
Carter, Earl of Waverby, until she overhears his plans of allowing Charles II to have his
way with her. Lady Anne flees in order to protect her virtue and falls into the hands of
a notorious criminal who just escaped his own hanging. John Gilbert agrees to have Lady
Anne stay within his command and has to keep himself away from her. This reader is not
a fan of historical romances, but Lady Anne's Dangerous Man does not seem to be
like most historical romances. There is more equality between Lady Anne and John Gilbert,
where in most historical romances; the women are unequal to the male main characters.
It was refreshing to read a historical book where both the female and male characters
are equal. It made the passionate romance between Anne and John much more enjoyable. The
setting is simply not important, other than to originally establish who Lady Anne and
John Gilbert are.
After that, it does not come into play, which for Lady Anne's Dangerous Man
works out perfectly. |
