The Maids of Rivenloch pave the way for modern women in this entrancing tale of Scottish
warriors and Norman Knights.
Deirdre, due to her beloved father's mental incapacity, holds the mantle of warrior and
steward to Rivenloch's men and all who reside within and without the castle walls. As the
eldest child, she takes her duties seriously, and when King David awards stewardship of her
home and the promise of one of the three Rivenloch heirs as his bride to Sir Pagan Cameliard,
a Norman knight, she is incensed. She will do anything to prevent him from marrying her
youngest sister, even if she must sacrifice herself to do it.
Pagan is honored by his unexpected bounty, but when he is caught spying on two beautiful
and buxom maids swimming in their natural glory, he is flummoxed by the one who makes more
than one of his swords ready for battle. Deirdre isn't the bride he would choose -he wants
the youngest, and meekest lass. Why borrow trouble if he doesn't have to? But trouble is
just what he gets when his siren bride challenges him to a sword fight.
Both warrior maid and knight indulge in heated encounters, cross swords, and bond together
to protect their mutual holdings. Deirdre soon discovers that the warrior knight isn't all
that bad and the knight in question finds that having a woman guard his back isn't the
end of the world.
Additional characters include Helena; the next-to-older sister who is called "Hel" for
short, and Miriel, who isn't as weak as her sisters think. Add to that double brew of trouble
a few more handsome knights, humor, and heated love scenes for a fantastic medieval read.
