Lord Of Temptation
by Paula Quinn
Gianelle is determined to escape her life of servitude. Her last night as a maid and unwilling
bed partner to Edgar Dermott is one she will never forget. Lord Dante Risande, a visitor
and royal emissary of King William's, is like no warrior she's ever seen. His eyes spark
fire, but his lips speak kindness. It was certainly a pity that her master was nothing
like the Earl of Graycliff. However, her admiration turns to anger when the handsome warrior
foils her escape attempt. His zealous protection soon melts her ill temper after Gianelle
is accused of murdering her master. Dante's defense and his subsequent removal of Gianelle
and her friend Casey back to his home cause her to view the Norman Lord with new and slightly
lustful eyes.
Dante doesn't know if Gianelle is innocent or not, but her tenacity, laughter and
innocence strike a chord deep inside him. His heart begins to love again and he pursues
the stubborn maid with a determination born of desperation. He must convince his lovely
faerie-like love that she doesn't have to be afraid anymore. He will never mistreat Gianelle,
but before Dante can follow through with his plans, her dead master's brother pleads with
the king to have Gianelle returned to her previous home to await a possible trial. Dante
marries the accused maid and soon finds that life with Gianelle is every bit as rewarding
as all the gold in William's kingdom.
Ms. Quinn pens a good tale of medieval life, but some of her words smack more of regency
lords than of William the Conqueror's time. Her point of view is off in places, but her
characters are divine and the emotions in this tale of love are tear-jerking at times.
Lord of Temptation tempts readers with warriors who have hearts and heroines who
won't take "no" for an answer. |
