Crazy In Love

by Lani Diane Rich

Flynn Daly is soon to turn thirty. She has never held a job for more than a year; she has never had or maintained even a casual relationship for more than six months, and she lives paycheck to paycheck, barely scraping by.

Flynn's sister, Freya, and Flynn's father, Richard, are deeply concerned and decide to engage in an "intervention." They are deeply concerned about the destructive direction Flynn's life has taken, and feel it would be in Flynn's best interest to make a few basic changes.

Flynn agrees to the changes her sister and father wish to make in her life. Flynn's first assignment (working for her father) is to go to Scheintown, NY. Flynn's great-aunt Esther has died and left the Goodhouse Arms Inn to Flynn's family. Her sole purpose in being there is to maintain a "presence" for a few weeks until the Inn can be sold.

Flynn moves into her great-aunt’s cottage at the Inn. She is haunted by the ghost of her great-aunt in her dreams. Maybe it’s the sleep deprivation but she is beginning to feel kind of.. warm toward the place. She is feeling especially warm toward Jake Tucker.

Jake Tucker, an ex-cop, works at the Goodhouse Arms Inn as a bartender, and he is suspicious about Esther's death. Even though she was eighty-seven years old and had a bad heart Jake just knows she didn’t die of natural causes.

Flynn and Jake have their hands full with great-aunt Esther's suspicious death, a dead body pulled out of the river that is tied to the Inn, a very large amount of money missing, being shot at, and their strong and growing attraction to each other.

Crazy In Love has some surprising twists and turns that kept me glued to the pages of this book to the very end. With romance intermingled with plenty of suspense, Crazy In Love is a splendid novel. The characters are well-developed and the plot is engaging.

Lani Diane Rich has a writing skill that is superb. I found this story to be more of a mystery read than a romance, but also a truly touching read. Ms. Rich is a fantastic writer and story-teller, and I look forward to reading many more books by this author. I truly enjoyed reading Crazy In Love and highly recommend it to others.
