At the Bride Hunt Ball

by Olivia Parker

The Duke of Wolverest, Gabriel Devine, is hell-bent determined that no woman will ever capture his heart. His vow to remain a bachelor does nothing to help carry on his family name by producing an heir. To remedy the situation he devises a plan to marry off his younger brother, Tristan. The plan involves inviting twenty of the most eligible women that the ton has to offer to a grand ball. Of the twenty women, seven are selected to spend a fourth night at Wolverest Castle so Gabriel can determine which one will be his sister-in-law.

Madelyn Haywood is one of the seven chosen. She has no interest in becoming the next duchess; she is only there as a favor to her step-mother. When she finds out that her friend Charlotte has also been selected she decides to provide her the emotional support she needs because Charlotte is secretly in love with Tristan. To try and make herself invisible, she tries to hide from the Duke.

Madelyn's tactic of avoidance does the right opposite of what she intended; it draws the attention of Gabriel. He seeks her out to discover her motives in sabotaging an opportunity to be part of such a fine bloodline. He doesn't expect to be shown so much determination and spirit. As much as she tries to deny that she has any intention of being married, Gabriel is convinced otherwise.

At the Bride Hunt Ball is an absolute delight!!! I am a HUGE fan of the television reality shows The Bachelor / Bachelorette, and this book is like reading about how it was done in the Regency time period. Olivia Parker adds a fresh new voice to the romance world.  This is an author whose forthcoming books romance fans had better watch out for. Very highly recommended.
