Every Heart Has Its Day

by Lynda Lukow

Lady Kasey Cameron embraces her gift of healing, but newly developed visions of the future unnerve her. She cannot shake her latest dream of a young man with golden brown eyes, wavy hair, and a desire for her. Kasey knows love’s embrace is not in her future and certainly not with a man so handsome. Her pride lies in healing those in need, not in foolish dreams of love.

Laird Connor Mackintosh’s continued captaincy depends on his settling down and producing an heir. He could choose any of the young women who try to attract his eye, but he wants only one woman, Lady Cameron. He steals moments of time simply to watch Kasey from a distance. Her unladylike abilities as a powerful hunter ignite both Connor’s fascination and passion. He imagines lustful trysts, though in reality, she never glances his direction. A marriage proposal would likely start a war, as their clans are sworn enemies. Despite the consequences, Connor sets to win Kasey’s heart.

The latest gossip confuses Kasey: why would Laird Mackintosh want her when he has better choices? When Kasey and her maid discover a bloodied and unconscious Connor, Kasey is shocked that a Macintosh had hidden nearby her. As a healer, she cannot deny Connor help, so she swallows the required clan hatred. Connor’s brother demands they wait for the Mackintosh clan’s healer, but Connor needs immediate attention. As she tends to his injuries, Kasey realizes he is the man from her visions. Connor awakens long enough to profess his love for her. She imagines that his touch and promises were meant for her, rather than being the delusions of a weakened man. Even if she can’t forget him, she must dismiss his love or suffer a worse fate than a broken heart. With the threat of a clan war, can Connor save innocent lives and win Kasey’s trust and love?

Every Heart Has Its Day is a powerful love story told with the grit of the 14th century, including violence and sex. Though historical romance is not my usual genre, the characters grabbed my heart from the first page to the last. I cheered, cried, and felt every emotion in between, as the story immerses its readers in the world of lairds, ladies, and clans.

Lynda Lukow infuses her storytelling with sensuous flesh and bone characters, vivid plots, and engaging narrative. Every Heart will captivate readers with its tender tale of fated lovers and the power of true love. Highly recommended.
