Every Move You Make

by Carla Cassidy

Doll maker Annalise Blakely is trying to keep her mother's doll business afloat, while worrying about a new competitor. She doesn't have time for much else in her life. Her best friend, Danika, has constantly tried to interest her in a particular man with no success.

That man is homicide detective Tyler King. Both are dubious about the blind date. Tyler has unpleasant memories from his divorce. But the meeting is a pleasant surprise. They find themselves very compatible.

Tyler is involved in a serial killer homicide case in which the killer strangles his victims and dresses them as Blakely dolls before leaving them for the police to find. Tyler is surprised to learn that Annalise is the designer of some of the Blakely dolls, and that her mother was one of the vintage models. This at first makes Annalise a prime suspect. Would the need for publicity be a reason for murder? But when the killer tries to make her his next victim, using her as a model for the original Blakley doll, they join forces to attempt to unmask him.

Easy to read and fast paced, this involves the reader with two very likeable protagonists. The feelings between Tyler and Annalise are pleasant and warm with respect for each other. Annalise proves herself strong and resourceful, even when she has to cope with her business problems and with her estranged father trying to come back into her life. The search for the killer is an intriguing one with excellent police procedures.

Recommended for a pleasant, quick read with no explicit sex, no "adult" language, and no token violence.
